Retired north Wales police chief, Gordon Anglesea faces five allegations of sexual assault and two of serious sexual assault.
The 78 year old former superintendent was the 18th person to be arrested as part of the Operation Pallial probe into historical child sex abuse claims at North Wales care homes.

He has been charged with sexual offences against three boys between 1979 and 1987.
The Daily Post reports:
A spokesman for the National Crime Agency said: “A 78-year-old man from North Wales has been charged with five offences of sexual assault and two offences of buggery, following an investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
“Gordon Anglesea, from Old Colwyn, is alleged to have abused three boys between 1979 and 1987, when they were between 11 and 16 years old.
“He was arrested by officers from Operation Pallial in December 2013. Pallial is an independent NCA investigation into recent allegations of past sexual abuse in the care system in North Wales, being delivered by the NCA at the request of Mark Polin, the Chief Constable of North Wales Police.
“He has been released on conditional bail and is due to appear at Mold Magistrates Court on the 6th August 2015.

Mr Anglesea, of Old Colwyn, was a policeman for 34 years and worked as an inspector in Wrexham between 1975 to 1983. He became a superintendent and retired in 1991.
He is also a Rotary Club member and a Freemason.
