An Irish TV presenter covering Storm Desmond is now an online celebrity after her gutsy performance while reporting on the storms battering Britain and Ireland.

RTE presenter Teresa Mannion’s weather report on storm Desmond battering her community is now a viral hit online.

Mail Online reports:

Teresa Mannion was reporting live from the seaside in Salthill in her native Galway where she was battered by Atlantic Ocean gales and heavy rain.

As she gave her report to the national broadcaster RTE’s evening news programme, she looked as if she was about to be blown away by the gale as rain streamed down her face.

However, she did her best to battle the elements as she shouted her report into the camera.

Carlitos Salazar YouTube video:

‘I cannot repeat the advice often enough from the gardai,’ she said, referring to the Irish police force.

‘Don’t make unnecessary journeys, don’t take risks on treacherous roads.

‘And don’t swim in the sea. Incredibly people have been spotted in the water here in Blackrock in Salthill today and yesterday.’

SUPER CÉILÍ YouTube video:

At the end of the report, Teresa managed a smile as broadcaster Brian Jennings told her to get in out of the rain and warm up.

You Can’t Fault Mannion’s Performance

Mashable reports:

Even though her hair is plastered to her face, her hat has turned into a soaked green sponge and she’s had to resort to shouting to be heard over the wind, Mannion soldiers on. She also really puts her heart and soul into the broadcast (although it’s hard to tell whether that’s real passion or just her genuine fear of being blown away at any second).

The report has made her something of a legend on social media.

Her celebrity status escalated fast.

It wasn’t long before the Photoshops began appearing.

Then someone mentioned the word “pop video”…

…and inevitably, this happened.

If YouTube remixes aren’t a sure-fire sign of Internet fame, we don’t know what is.
