The occupied West Bank has been turned into a dumping site for Israel’s hazardous waste in violation of international law, according to a new report by human rights group B’Tselem
The report says: “Israel’s environmental policy in the West Bank, including situating polluting waste treatment facilities there, is part and parcel of the policy of dispossession and annexation it has practiced in the West Bank for the past 50 years”
“Israel is exploiting the West Bank for its own benefit, ignoring the needs of the Palestinians almost entirely, and harming both them and their environment.”

Palestinians in the West Bank, unlike Israeli settlers living in neighboring illegal settlements, have no influence on Israel’s decisions to operate waste treatment facilities on their land.
Israel abuses its status as an occupying power to impose these facilities on Palestinian communities, completely disregarding the hazards they pose.
Israel dumps sewage sludge, infectious medical waste, oils and solvents, electronic waste and used batteries, among other materials.
“All of these are urban and industrial by-products Israel generates within its own territory, and they are made up of a wide range of unwanted substances that pose a real threat to the people and natural resources in their vicinity,” the report states.
Israel also makes it profitable for corporations as it “offers financial incentives such as tax breaks and government subsidies” to operate waste plants in the West Bank rather than within Israel.
Israel’s ecological footprint – a measure of a country’s resource consumption and environmental impact – is three times that of neighboring Egypt, Syria or Jordan.
But Israel diverts much of the pollution it produces by transferring it to the West Bank.
Compared to other countries, Israeli legislation is highly negligent of the risks posed by these hazardous operations.
“The current framework does not address medical waste nor the risks it involves,” according to B’Tselem
“Sacrifice zones”
Due to “internal objections to local treatment plants” as well as high costs of exporting waste internationally, Israel started seeking “sacrifice zones” – areas that are “irrevocably impaired” by environmental and economic neglect.
Israel created such zones in the West Bank, where it currently operates at least 15 waste plants.
One of them is the facility operated by Elidori Green on confiscated lands near the Palestinian village of Kisan.
Elidori Green, an Israeli company, operates a dump for construction waste with the complicity of at least two international firms, depending on equipment made by Canada’s McCloskey International and Sweden’s Volvo Trucks.
Six of the sites handle hazardous waste that would typically require special regulations due to the environmental danger they pose.
But Israel’s environmental policy in the West Bank differs from the one inside Israel.
Despite being a signatory to the Basel Convention, an international treaty setting standards for handling and transporting hazardous waste to economically disadvantaged areas and countries, Israel fails to maintain these standards in its West Bank facilities.
The treaty stipulates that hazardous waste is only transported to countries that are given detailed information about what they’re receiving and are able to manage the waste to specific environmental standards. Most importantly, receiving countries must provide written consent.
Israel considers the West Bank its own territory, and therefore assumes none of these requirements apply.
Palestinians are never asked for consent to receive the waste or provided detailed information regarding what is being dumped near their communities.
Israel also fails to supervise or inspect waste operations in the West Bank, and does not hold them to the same rigorous environmental standards that it does in Israeli cities.
In fact, Israel conceals most information about the amount of waste dumped and companies are not required to disclose “the hazards their operation poses or the measures they adopt to prevent – or at least to reduce – these risks.”
“Israel is effectively having it both ways,” the report concludes, “seemingly increasing the amount of waste it treats, [but] it actually does so by diverting the risks and pollutants onto Palestinian land and people.”

What was the language of the country of Palestine?

What was the name of its currency and what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, or Japanese yen on any particular date?
And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?
If these so-called “Palestinians” are anything but a generic collection of Arabs from all over the rest of the Arab world and if they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination, then why did they never try to become an independent and sovereign nation until Arabs suffered their devastating defeat in the Six Day War in 1967?

1 The “Palestinian People” have an historic connection to the land.
This is very interesting since there is no such thing as a “Palestinian People”. When the Romans changed the name of Israel to Palestine, the people living there at the time were Jews, not Arabs. If there had been a “Palestinian People”, which there never was, they would have been Jews.
2 The Palestinian People have been in the land from time immemorial.
For centuries pre-Israel Palestine was a forgotten, desolate wasteland inhabited by a remnant of Jews, along with some Christians and wandering Bedouins who certainly had no thought of a national identity of any kind.
3 There were no Jews in Palestine until Israel became a state in 1948.
The Romans officially banished the Jews from Israel (Palestine) in 135 CE. However, historical records show there was always a Jewish presence in the land. While many were scattered, other Jews simply moved out of harm’s way until a less hostile power ruled the land. Jews were returning to what is now Israel well before 1948. Many left Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917.
4 Arabs and Jews lived in harmony before Israel became a state.
Throughout the centuries, Jews as well as Christians, living under Islamic rule suffered persecution and humiliation, the intensity of which was determined by the character of a particular Moslem ruler. As second-class citizens, there was never a “good time” for non-Muslims living under Islamic rule. Because of the way that most Islamic countries look down on non-Muslims, they are always considered second-class citizens and less than equal. Arabs have rarely lived in harmony with anyone if they were the majority.
5 The returning Jews displaced the Palestinian Arabs
The ancestors of most of the present-day Arab population migrated to the land after Jewish pioneers began to reclaim the land. They came from many different countries and were not original inhabitants of the land.
6 The Jews stole Arab land
Jews returning to the land settled on unclaimed, unoccupied land or bought land from absentee Arab landowners at outrageously high prices. This is a matter of record.
7 The Jews forced Arabs to flee Palestine
When Israel was declared a state in 1948, leaders from the surrounding Arab countries declared war on Israel and instructed the Arab civilians living in the land to flee until the Jews were annihilated. Israeli leaders, to no avail, urged the Arabs to stay. Property that they owned was abandoned.
8 The Jews caused the Arab refugee problem
If Arab countries would assimilate and care for the “Palestinian” refugees, as Israel did for their Jewish refugees, there would be no refugee problem. Instead they use the refugees as political pawns in their struggle against Israel. No Arab country that wants “Palestinian Arabs” in their country as they would rather use the “Palestinian Arabs” as pawns rather than assimilate them into their populations and bring peace to the Middle East.
9 Israel is the aggressor against defenseless Palestinians
In its brief history, Israel has had one war after another and each time they are blamed as the aggressor. The Arabs do not recognize the right of Israel to exist and are in a constant state of hostility against Israel. Their aim is to destroy Israel.

But too often for many non-Jewish believers, the word “synagogue” merely refers to a non-believing Jewish place of worship, and so they would therefore see the word “synagogue” in Rev 2:9 and 3:9 as having a negative connotation. But the word doesn’t merely mean a “Jewish” place but an “assembly” place. Thus the phrase “synagogue of Satan” in these verses might better be translated as “an assembly of Satan” and thereby refer to an assembly, a cult of Gentiles calling themselves Jews, (i.e., today Mormons also call themselves “Jews”) who were persecuting the believers made up of both Messianic Jews and Messianic Gentiles. Satan had this legalistic cult of Gentiles, who called themselves Jews though they were not, spiritually deceived.
