HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Hundreds of residents concerned about a dozen earthquakes that have rattled the Plainfield area in just over a week have attended a meeting where officials tried to answer their questions.
WVIT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1znuUGg) that the answers given at the Friday night forum at Plainfield High School did little to reassure some residents. Scientists said they don’t believe the cluster of quakes is a sign of something larger to come.
No significant damage from the quakes has been reported.
Officials from several state agencies who met earlier Friday said they want to make sure Connecticut is ready.
State officials say residents in areas prone to earthquakes should identify a safe place for shelter, secure heavy or tall furniture to walls and know how to turn off gas and water supply valves
