In a beautiful gesture that may prove human kindness still exists, Newser today reports on a dying single mother who has no one to raise her lithe boy, who is only 8 years old.  Newser’s article states:  “A Pennsylvania woman diagnosed with terminal liver cancer had a second, awful problem to deal with: The single mom had nobody to take care of her 8-year-old son upon her death. But as WHTM of Harrisburg reports, salvation appeared in the form of her nurse.

Tricia Somers, 45, had struck up a rapport with nurse Tricia Seaman in the hospital, and on the day Somers was to be discharged, she posed the big question: “If I die, will you raise my son?” Seaman, who already has three teens and a 10-year-old son, asked for time to think it over with her husband. “I didn’t know what to say in that moment,” she tells ABC News. “I was trying to be very diplomatic, everything in me was saying, ‘Yes I’ll do it.'”

Seaman was initially shocked, telling Somers that she would take the question home and talk to her family.  ABC 27 reports, “What Somers did not know is the Seaman family was already in the process of trying to adopt a son. They just did not think it would happen this way.

“Sometimes God has a plan for our lives,” Seaman said. “Sometimes we think we know what that plan is, but we really do not.”

Although Seaman’s husband was shocked by the request, he was open to the idea of helping a woman he had never met.

“In 20 years I have never had an occasion not to trust my wife’s heart,” Dan Seaman said. “When she called I said, ‘we have got to do something. We have got to figure out a way to make this happen.’ “

After much thought, the family decided they would take care of Wesley when his mother passed. They invited Somers and Wesley to move in with them at their home in McAlisterville, Juniata County.”
