Oscar Pistorius Removes His Prosthetic Legs Before Sentencing

South African ‘Blade Runner’ Oscar Pistorius removed his artificial legs in a courtroom in South Africa on Wednesday to plead for leniency.

The convicted murderer and former Paralympic champion had his legs amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old.

He was the first amputee to win an able-bodied world track record in 2001 and the first double amputee to compete in the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

He faces sentencing for the killing of his girlfriend in 2013.

As you remember, the paralympian was convicted in 2014 of shooting and killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentines day the previous year.

After being sentenced, another judge overturned the original ruling stating that there was a “fundamental error” and that Pistorius “never offered an acceptable explanation for” shooting Steenkamp through a door.

Well today, during the third day of sentencing in the North Gauteng High Court, the Olympic athlete was advised by his lawyers to show he was in a state of vulnerability when he shot his GF. To do this, the 29-year-old decided to take off his prosthetic lets and walk around on his natural legs.

Oscar has continually said that he thought it was an intruder that entered his home in Pretoria, that he did not mean to kill Reeva when he shot through the bathroom door four times.

We don’t know if this defense will end up working, but things aren’t looking good for Oscar as the sentencing guidelines in South Africa call for a minimum of 15 years in prison for murder; however, the judge does have a little wiggle room.

Though we have no idea how much time the runner will get, Judge Thokozile Matilda Masipa said that she would issue a ruling on July 6!
