
The polls have now closed on the Scottish vote and the votes are being counted.
The people of Scotland have finished voting on the question: “Should Scotland be an independent country?”
A staggering 97% of the Scottish population registered to vote on this historic day. The results will be in early on Friday morning.

The latest Evening Standard poll released just before the voting ended indicated a near 50/50 split.
- Yes 47%, No 53%
Voters as young as 16 are able to vote in this referendum. With such a large turnout of voters and unpredictable voting behaviors from the 16-18 year old group – the results could go either way.
