Russia To Offer Free Land To Citizens And Foreigners

Russia to give free land to everybody

Russia has announced plans to offer free land to citizens and foreigners who want to build homes or start business in agriculture or tourism.

Land in Russia’s far east is up for grabs after a Russian lower house committee approved a bill that offers the free handover of 1 hectare (2.5 acres) of land to foreign citizens.

RT.com reports:

However, foreigners will only be allowed to use the land, and the registration of full property rights is only possible after the naturalization of potential owners.

The original bill was drafted by the Russian government in November last year. The explanations attached to the document read that the authorities expect the free land handover to attract more people to the Far East Federal District, to slow or stop the outward migration of locals, and to boost the socio-economic development of the territory.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has also ordered the development of a special web service that will allow Russians to obtain all the necessary papers confirming their property rights remotely and with a minimum of red tape. The plots will be divided from land that’s currently federal and municipal property.

The idea of a ‘Russian Homestead Act’ was first proposed in early 2015 by the presidential envoy to the Far East Federal District, Yury Trutnev, who proposed offering large plots of land for free to anyone who resettled to the Russian Far East to start a farm or other business. The plan also included the handover of one-hectare plots, a ban on selling the land received, and a five-year trial period.

As Trutnev presented his plan to the press, he said President Vladimir Putin had called the initiative correct in principle and noted that similar programs had been successfully implemented historically in Siberia. Putin also urged all the officials responsible for the plan to be precise and cautious when detailing the conditions for land ownership.

  1. What outstanding thinking, straight out of The Ringing Cedar books of Anastasia, such a Natural sustainable outlook…. so unlike our Western greed merchants that are hell bent on killing our soils with pesticides and frankenfood GMO grained Monoculture.

    • Russia – Soviet Russia, did worse than you can imagine – even if they seem to have regained sanity. They dumped an ENTIRE nuclear power plant into the Arctic Ocean. There is a lake in southern Russia somewhere – probably a separate country now – that if you walk to the shore – you are as good as dead in a couple days from radiation poisoning. They had an accident at a boichemical warfare plant that poisoned people for hundreds of square miles…
The legacy is likely to live on. Radiation, bad chemical disposals, etc. You might find safe land, might not. This would take a LOT of research…. Then you’d have to know the climate is livable for you. Can you grow your food? That’s all i’d want out of it – and one hectare is going to be sketchy – especially when you figure limitations on food varieties you can grow there…

      • Agnihotra, sacred fires from India are well known for healing the land and atmosphere of such problems. One lady who regularily performs these fires and whose farm was near the chernobyl disaster when it happened, had all her dairy products tested 3 times by the goverment and everytime they came up clean and were not contaminated. Her farm was the only one with these results in the whole area!

I also recommend reading Medicine for the earth by sandra Ingerman, a well respected shamen she teaches people how its possible to transmute pollution.

        • Thanks – i find that fascinating and am likely one of the few who know you are talking about a fire sacrifice, lol.
In (i believe) Austria, there was fallout from Chernobyl, and EVERY farm in the area had to destroy their produce/food. Almost all for multiple years.
An organic farm – and only that organic farm – tested safe the second year….

Still won’t change the environment/climate, whatever THAT is – subarctic? Northwoods? Cold temperate?

i’ll stick with my “in-development” 16 acres portion of the wife’s family ranch in N Cal with my “heritage grains”, pasture, raw goat milk, anarchy chickens (beyond free-range – they do what they want) heritage hogs, and the two 4WD diesel tractors i picked up on a 2 for the price of one sale – 4 serial #s apart.

Lots to do, but lots of progress made in a few years…

          • Just to clarify on the above. The farm I mentioned was owned by karin HeschI and was 40km east of Graz in Austria , in a a village called Kirchberg an der Raab. Their produce was the only produce found with normal radioactive levels. The scientists told them that after the Chernobyle accident, these results were impossible but they couldnt deny them as they were holding the result papers in their hands, so asked what special things they were doing on their farm. Agnihotra fires are small fires made from cow dung, ghee and rice that are burnt in a small upside down copper pyramid at sunrise and sunset whilst repeating specific mantras.

  3. Sounds like a great plan. One that I am actually interested in, but I can’t see me, or anyone, being very productive agriculturally with 2.5 acres of land. I actually live on 2.5 acres of land in town. I couldn’t grow enough crops or livestock to feed my family, much less make a profit.

    • Permaculture. Look at King’s “FARMERS OF FORTY CENTURIES” and of course – WHERE is this town you live in. Community supplied water screws you out the gate – huge cost over a well, toxins in the water to kill your production (when i lived in Pagosa Springs Colo – they stopped fluoridating their water system BECAUSE IT WAS KILLING HORSES) the chlorine kills plants, you have to pay sewage “treatment” fees for all your water even when it isn’t treated, etc.
Thank God and whoever, we live in the country, with wells, hills, livestock, orchard, garden, and a pretty warm N Calif climate – growing (frost free) from May through Sept – but frequently from earlier to later. Still need to put in your winter garden in August or not enough sunlight to start the growing…..

    • Weed is illegal but a lot of land out in Siberia is used to grow it. You can do it if you simply give the local police ” a donation to the fine department”

    • hemp is legal in russia. ukraine is a big supplier of it. weed was my first thought too but even hemp would be a great start when you consider what you can pull out of a piece of land that size. time to do some research.

  5. Depending on the climate, you would need between 100 and 250 acres, or more, to raise any sort of crop.

I think the land grant should include an option to purchase larger tracts for very low cost per hectare, perhaps as low as $10.00US per hectare.

I have almost four hectares here in South Carolina and it’s right at the minimum to grow row crops such as beans or other.

  7. I’d take my family there in a second if only the travel costs could be funded and a temporary home were offered on site. A school that taught Russian as a second language would also be most awesome too Screw the West. Its quickly turning into a shithole. Self sufficient farming, off grid living and the ability to share/sell the excess agriculture produced in the far east of Russia is future. Peace, tranquility and happiness without the threat of capitalism or western imperialism. A dream come true.

  9. I don’t want to physically reside in Russia at this point, someday perhaps, but I would like to purchase a Russian passport or residency / dual citizenship just to have options available as the U.S. continues its descent into tyranny. Russia could earn a TON of money from the millions of disaffected Americans who want alternatives. Another possibility is offering westerners asset protection by way of offshore trusts similar to how the Cook Islands does it – basically making one judgement proof (for an annual fee or course) and anonymous in financial transactions. God bless Russia and her people. Interesting article.
