Video: Our Universe May Exist From Collision With Other Universe

Fact checked by The People's Voice Community

Two scientists are studying the possibility that our universe exists after originally crashing into another universe, which would provide evidence of a multiverse.

Some scientists believe our universe exists within a greater multiverse of which there are several theoretical concepts, including a hypothesis that ours is the product of a collision with another universe.

Hiranya Peiris, a cosmologist at University College London has teamed up with Matt Johnson, from the Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics in Canada, to test this theory.

They worked out a simulatation to determine what the collision could look like, and created a series of algorithms to search for evidence of the cosmic microwave background in satellite data from the Planck space telescope.

The cosmic microwave background is a remnant of the Big Bang. They theorize a collision of such proportions may have left an imprint on it.

If that imprint is found, it will provide a glimpse into the multiverse.

It would be the first time evidence has been discovered suggesting there are other universes besides our own out there.

Even if this is the case, it is nearly impossible to study further, because no contact between the two universes is feasible at this time.
