Data released by the United States Census Bureau shows that there are more women than men living in 40 out of 50 states.
Based on the 2013 data from the U.S. Census Bureau, The Washington Post notes there are more women than men living in 40 of the 50 states.
While the difference in each state isn’t very high, statistics indicate women make up 50.8 percent of the entire American population.

The state with the largest majority of women is Rhode Island, where 51.6 percent of the population is female.
Washington is the only state that had an even split between the populations of both genders.
States where the population of men were higher are all reportedly in the western part of the country.
North Dakota has the highest percentage of men, with 51.1 percent, followed by Nevada and Utah, both with male populations of just over 50 percent.
Globally, the ratio varies depending on the region.
According to a 2002 Global Population Composition study by the U.S. Census Bureau, “…although men outnumbered women in all of Asia, the Near East, and North Africa, women outnumbered men in the developed world, Eastern Europe and the NIS, and Latin America and the Caribbean.”
