Kendal & Kenedi Breyfogle are two 3 month old twin babies that are undergoing chemotherapy. Why? They both have a rare cancer called acute myeloid leukemia – something normally only seen in adults.
Identical twins may share many things like birthdays and facial features, but a pair of South Dakota infants is also living with the same disease–cancer.

Kenedi and Kendal Breyfogle, who are currently three-months old, have been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, or AML, a rare condition that is usually seen in older adults.
As their mother, Abby, writes in an online post, the family began noticing bruise and bite-like marks on the girls soon after returning home from their protracted hospital stay.
She asked their doctor about the increasing number of marks and, after getting an initial misdiagnosis, a dermatologist eventually did a biopsy which came back with AML. It turns out, what appeared to be bites were actually lesions of leukemia in the skin.
Shortly after the condition was confirmed, the girls were admitted to the hospital and started on chemotherapy. According to the mother, the AML survival rate is about 50 to 60 percent for adults but unknown for infants.
