Walt Disney: Freemason?

There is a fascinating website I recently came across called “Midnight Freemasons” [1].  It’s interesting more for the fact that it’s just not that… interesting.  It claims to be a group of “Master Masons” who cover a myriad of topics from travel to history and everything and anything that interests them.  With all of the sometimes over-the-top sites claiming to hold all of the sacred knowledge of the Masons, it’s nice to read about it from a different (and potentially more accurate) perspective.

Recently, I was looking into the age-old question of whether or not Walt Disney was a freemason, which is much harder than you might think, and came across this site.  According to the Midnight Freemasons, “He was a great man, a great animator, he loved children, and he had an imagination that knew few limits. He often been cited as a Freemason, in fact, often he’s listed as a 33rd Degree. I’ve read a lot about Walt Disney, and he was widely admired and respected. He’s many things to many people, but one thing he was not, was a Freemason.

Now part of what may have cause the confusion is that during the 1950s, Disneyland sponsored various clubs for its employees, including a knitting club, a shooting club, a skiing club, bowling and softball teams. There was also a Masonic club at Disney, presumably for the employees who were Freemasons.

However, even though Disney wasn’t a Freemason, he did belong to Demolay as a boy, which is a fraternal organization sponsored by Masonry. While many Demolay do go on to become Freemasons, Walt Disney never joined a Masonic Lodge. Walt Disney was kind of a big deal in Demolay–he was only the 107th member to join the organization, and a member of the Mother Chapter. He was later inducted into Demolay’s Legion of Honor, and the Hall of Fame. He was very fond of the Demolay organization, and spoke out favorably about it often. In fact, he made his creation, Mickey Mouse, a member of Demolay!

Without a doubt, Walt Disney’s contributions has changed the world in many wonderful ways. He’s brought happiness, wonder, and imagination to millions throughout the world. He was never afraid to push the boundaries, to try something new, and to find new ways to entertain his guests both in the theater, and in his famous park.” [1]

Now, this is, of course, one perspective.  Another website that has been around for some time, Illuminati News [2] has quite the different perspective on Disney’s Masonic status.  They say, “Walt Disney was a 33° Freemason and an illuminist. Behind all those cartoons, magazines, movies etc., is a hidden agenda to mess up our children’s minds. Disney’s production over the years is filled with Masonic symbolism, occult over- and undertones, mind control and indoctrination. He is preparing our younger generations for the New World Order, and introduce them to sorcery (black magic) as being a ‘cool thing‘” [2]

As someone who has spent years researching topics of Illuminati, media mind control, and the like, I am more of the belief that Walt wasn’t all squeaky clean – at all.  But was he a mason?  What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below!

  1. there is a private club in disney world called club 33 that is located

Club 33 is a private club located in the heart of the New Orleans Square section of Disneyland. Officially maintained as a secret feature of the theme park, the entrance of the club is located next to the Blue Bayou Restaurant at “33 Royal Street” with the entrance recognizable by an ornate address plate with the number 33 engraved on it.[1]

Club 33 members and their guests have exclusive access to the club, which is not open to the public. In addition to beer and wine, Club 33 has a full bar, although patrons must order directly from their server rather than the service bar. Club 33 is the only location within Disneyland Park to offer alcoholic beverage, although the park has a park-wide liquor license and has set up bars for private events—and alcohol is served at several locations within Disney California Adventure
