
FEMA has been listing some pretty interesting job postings since the ebola crisis has broken out, which only has brought more questions than answers.
In a job posting listed on October 7, FEMA placed an searching for what they refer to as a “Media Analysis Specialist”. On the surface, it seems just like another normal job listing:

But scroll a bit lower into the duties, and some peculiar things stick out:
“Research disaster-related media sources”? What exactly does that mean? Is it a fancy way of saying spy and make sure the “correct” story is published?
Even stranger, this position officially doesn’t exist anywhere else in the US Gov. job database. “Monitor news media to ensure all relevant information is gathered”. At first blush, that seems to say you would need to… what exactly? Watch the news for more information about the disaster you are already working on?
