Mainstream Fail: This Video Shows Just How Massive US Police Protest Was

Fact checked by The People's Voice Community

In what many are calling “yet another” display of the mainstream media not covering major events – some literally outside of the windows of their cozy New York City offices – comes this incredible video which shows just how massive the protests in America were this week against police brutality.

In an article titled “Video shows just how huge America’s protests against police brutality were” [1], journalist Dina Rickman says:

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets across America yesterday to protest recent killings of unarmed black men by police.

Protests were held in Oakland, Washington DC, Boston, Colorado Springs, Chicago and New York.

They follow the decision of two grand juries – one in New York and one in Ferguson, Missouri – not to charge white police officers who had killed unarmed black men, in separate cases. In New York, Eric Garner was killed last July by a police officer using an outlawed chokehold. In Ferguson, Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer in August.

In Washington Michael Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, attended protests as did Eric Garner’s widow, Esaw Garner.

This time lapse video shows just how big the protest in New York was. Preliminary estimates say 25,000 people attended despite near-freezing temperatures.
