According to sources, the 85-year-old paedophile scoffed so many chocolates at HMP Stafford that he became ill.
He was secretly whisked to an Ebola ward at the nearby Royal Stoke University Hospital for emergency treatment, it emerged today.
It is not yet known if Harris has returned to prison and if he was treated on the isolated Ebola ward for his privacy.
The former entertainer’s life-long friend, singer Vince Hill, 81, said he had heard from one of Harris’ closest friends who visits him regularly that Harris had “sort of over-dosed on chocolate.”
“According to him, that was the scale of the problem…he didn’t know he was eating too much chocolate,” he said.
Sick Harris, who was jailed for five years and four months for sexually abusing young female fans, has suffered ill-health for most of his later years.
Apart from his diabetes, the veteran has a raft of medical conditions, which include having had a minor stroke, stents fitted to his arteries, legs problems and vertigo.
