Tesla motors has launched a project that supplies solar power from a ‘home batteries pack’.

Washington Post reports the project to be six months away from becoming public, after which Mr. Musk will reveal the details of the design .

In a pilot project, a 10-kilowatt-hour battery pack is being used that can power homes for about two days in case of a power outage. The project, run by SolarCity, which is co-chaired by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, covers 500 homes in California.

trueactivist.com reports :

“We are trying to figure out what would be a cool stationary (battery) pack. Some will be like
the Model S pack: something flat, 5 inches off the wall, wall mounted, with a beautiful cover, an
integrated bi-directional inverter, and plug and play,” Musk said in a statement last week.

To meet the demand for the batteries, Musk is planning on building a giant battery manufacturing
complex, which will be specifically used for this company and this company only.
