Sad news coming from New York when a juvenile American Bald Eagle was found by a hiker.
The eagle had been shot and was badly wounded. He was rushed to the hospital, where veterinarians are saying he is now doing well, but, sadly, will never fly again.
There is a $1,000 cash reward for the person who can provide information that could lead to the arrest of the individual who perpetrated the misdeed.

The bald eagle was selected as a national symbol of the United States of America by the 1782 Continental Congress and was provided legal protection the Bald Eagle Protection Act of 1940.
Cornell Veterinary School spokesperson, Claudia Wheatley says to the Ithaca Journal that the bird will never return to the wild because it is no longer capable of flying. Wildlife veterinarians conducted the surgery on the poor bird of prey at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals in Ithaca and it is now monitored thoroughly.
The eagle was discovered last Saturday in Otsego County by a hiker that is accompanied by his pet dog. The bird was first rushed to the New York Wildlife Rescue Center in Schoharie for initial treatment before it is moved to Cornell facility.
The rescue center stated that there will be a reward for a person who could provide information that will pave the way for the conviction of the individual who shot the hapless bird.
