A new mugshot of the disgraced former NFL legend O.J. Simpson has been released by the Nevada Department of Corrections.

The 68-year-old is currently serving 33 years in an isolated desert prison for armed robbery and is eligible for parole next year.

O.J. Simpson Daily Mail reports:

Simpson, who is serving a sentence up to 33 years behind bars for armed robbery and other crimes,  has not been pictured in a new mugshot since July 2013.

The Nevada Department of Corrections took a new mugshot of the 68-year-old to ensure they ‘keep accurate information and an up-to-date photo’ of all their inmates at the Lovelock Correctional Center.

The new picture of ‘The Juice’ shows him wearing his prison issued uniform behind a red colored back drop as he flashes a smile for the camera.

Simpson’s hair appears to have turned completely gray now as under eye circles are visible below both of his eyes.

The once beloved NFL star is behind bars from a September 2007 incident at the Palace Station hotel and casino in Nevada.

He was found guilty in 2008 of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery and using a deadly weapon.

The disgraced Heisman Trophy winner could be paroled from prison in 2017 after completing the mandatory minimum of nine years that is required before being considered for release.

Since the airing of popular series, American Crime Story: The People V OJ Simpson, many have returned to speculate as to whether Simpson did indeed kill his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ronald Goldman.

Ron Shipp, one of Simpson’s long-time friends, says that the former football star is in a ‘total torment’ and will one day admit to the murders.

Simpson, who starred in more than 20 films, was cleared of murdering his ex and Goldman in the world-famous year-long trial in 1995.

However, Shipp, who has known him for decades, says that Simpson will apologize for the 1994 murders.

Shipp told the New York Daily News: ‘The guy is in total torment today. Someone told me he is 300 pounds and he looks horrible.

‘O.J. has always felt his appearance meant everything and now, deep down inside, he is starting to live with himself.’

‘I hope one day he actually will rid us of all the doubt and all the conspiracy theories and say ‘sorry I cannot go to prison (because of double jeopardy laws), but I am sorry I did it.’
